Firefox 3 beta Guiness Record

June 3, 2008

I’ve been rather quiet on this subject, because there have been more than a few en-lighting you about the New Beta Release of FF. I got my first experience of the Beta, when I was testing out the Beta release of Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04. I think its time you folks out there, started loading a live CD, and start wetting your feet into the world of Open Source, coz IPR is kicking (finally) in Sri Lanka and soon you’ll be having to cough up 15 grand for an XP License and 40 grand for M$ Office.

Anyways this post is dedicated to Firefox. The no of improvements to firefox have been calculated to be a whopping 14,000. There is a Giuness Record attempt (not like the silly ones you see on FB) for the most no of Downloads in 24 hours, when Firefox 3 is officially released. If Firefox has made a difference in your life (or atleast in the way you Browse) go ahead and pledge a download, and more importantly spread the love of Open source. Power to the People!

ChaarMax, Did you notice that Sri Lanka doesn’t have even a 1000 pledges..And even India has only around 12 000; it is a very small number for a country coming up in the IT sector…
I guess people are still slaved to IE..:-P..hopefully things should catch up..
