    What will happen this time

  6. April 24, 2008 12:32 am

    isipathanians r playin great!

  7. April 24, 2008 1:38 pm

Unlike previous years , this time all teams seems to be strong,

  8. April 24, 2008 2:46 pm

Very true from what I hear, this year will be some what evenly contested. We only have to wait and see whether the speculation is correct though.

On other news I heard there is bit of an internal row Singer with our chaps refusing to wear the Singer logo on their jersey. IMO the Royal jersey shouldn’t be tarnished and commercialized with logos. What say you?

  9. April 25, 2008 7:41 am

i agree with u chaarmax…royal doesnt need corporate sponsorship to that level…after all, it’s a school, not a money making club.

disappointed with the kingswood score though…7-13? bad start!

  10. April 25, 2008 10:36 am

Apparently our back division still sucks.. I figured they would have repaired the damage from last year.. apparently still a few nuts missing.. 😦 Forwards seem pretty good from what I read.. specially the 3rd rows. 🙂

  11. April 28, 2008 10:06 am

Well, not the greatest start to the season with a loss in Kandy. All the teams seem to be evenly placed with Trinity beating Pathana and Thora beating SACK.

Confab, I think Singer has been sponsoring a few top schools (including Royal if I’m not mistaken) for the past few years in addition to actively aiding the schools rugby finacially which is very commendable. However requiring the team jerseys to have the logo is going a bit over the top in my opinion. I remember reading about this a few months back where apparently a few schools have voiced their objections. Wonder what the status of it though.

  12. April 28, 2008 10:40 am

To tell you the truth machan.. I think this year we’re going to get screwed too.. Trinity (14 freshers mind you) beat Isipathana.. and Isipathana is supposed to be good. Our back division sucks.. wonder why CP doesn’t do anything abt it. Same case last year. Plus our tackling was horrendous.. hope that has improved.. 😦

  13. April 28, 2008 2:46 pm

Aw shucks. That sucketh indeed. Yeah, even Thora seem to be good this year and the Petes are supposed to be quite strong. Sigh. Btw, is CP the head coach?

  14. April 28, 2008 3:42 pm

From what I know CP’s the head coach.. and I think Jamaldeen is helping out with the fwd’s.

Kingswood almost had 7 victories in a row over royal,
    best was in 2005
Kingswood beat royal 46 – 10 at RCSC
then again last year 29-12at RCSC
This year 13-06 at Kandy, Next time it want be that easy.
Royals getting stronger, but watchout Trinity’s furious

Petes ? Strong ? Or Rajans weak ?

  17. April 29, 2008 3:15 pm

Well hold on to your horses Kingswood.. you guys are hitting a good patch the past few years.. unlike us who are struggling to come out of a bad patch.. 😦

Trinity supposed to be good.. with 14 freshers.. mind you.. supposed to have to heavy centers that just take their opp no along with them. Lomu style.

Petes are strong as well.. picking up from the left last year..

Pathana are strong, but the buggers players are over-age. Failing O/L’s twice, just like the last time. There has been an appeal made to the ministry i hear.

Just making a wild guess Peters, Kingswood, Trinity, Royal maybe the likely top 4. But it’s way too early to say anythin. Teams may improve or have a bad run in the middle. 🙂

We need to win the match against st Peters !!! We lost that match last year for 41-0 ! am gonna go watch that match in a few hours !!! hope will be favorable for Royal !!! School where our fathers…….

Madura, to tell you the truth I had high hopes for this match that the Royal forwards could hold off the Peterites. Unfortunately, I hear news that Bilal isn’t playing. Which is almost equal the whole pack not playing. 😦 Das, is supposed to make an appearance after his shoulder injury, but not sure whether he’ll be 100% fit of will play the both halves. So again we might not have a reliable kicker to gain those valuable penalties and conversions. So I must say this year too looks very very sad. I’d be happy if we could hold them off to a decent score. 😦

Well Charrr….. Surprising wasnt it ??? without our star player Bilal Hassan we made a convincing victory against the so called IMPREGNABLE for ROYAL team – peters !!!! LOL !!! I was there at the match and i was on the edge of ma seat !! still im sure if Bilal played… we could have gotten an easy win with another two tries !!! if the place kicker had converted the 2 tries and the 2 easy penalties we would have won 27 – 12 !!!!! I am sure we will have a major chance for retaining the BRADBY… eventhough they say that trinity is a better side !!! remember peters beat trinity !!! we’ll see.. i know its a different game there but my money is on Royal… with bilal in we’ll play much better !!!!

  23. June 8, 2008 10:25 pm

Surprising indeed Madura. I was on my feet right through out the match. Read my detailed comments on the match.

I think Bilal is like tendulkar.when he doesn’t play the whole team clicks together.coz they dont have one player to depend on.have you noticed, most of the time tendulkar does not play India win coz most of their players do well whereas when tendulkar plays, the chance of them winning is low as they all depend on tendulkar.Anyhow, in the future I hope the whole team will continue playing as a team and we can hope to lift the Bradby Shield..
