Petrol Hits 3 Figure Mark – $$$

Yesterday saw the last barrier being broken for Petrol, the 3 figure mark. Yep for those of you who didn’t know, Petrol is now available at Ceypetco Shed’s for Rs. 101 per liter. I think the IOC guy will be selling it for 4 bucks more.
So it’s time to pull out my trusty Mountain Bike, which I used to call “Knight Rider” ha ha.. and start peddling from Colpetty to Nawala. Who knows end of the day I might lose some extra flab too.
Any other suggestions?

if only the push bike had A/C…I would do that too.
Some times back I bought a bike thinking the same thing (plus the bike look pretty). But it is not practical because of the weather and the dirty roads ~ and most of all because of our (others) attitude against bicycle. But seriously… very soon that need to be change – and that will.
Brazil moved in to alcohol long time back. America moving in to vegetable oil – ford already starts making bio-diesel vehicles. Japan is moving in to hydrogen. Bicycle is not a bad alternative for us.
refer to last weeks sunday observer – the wildlife dept is asknig for quotations from those interested in buying tame asian elephants. I totally approve.
in the long run Im sure they will be cheaper + more environment friendly.

I saw a similar post on your blogs re: Elephants, but too late to comment. So I’ll post them here. Elephants are cool but you need to retro fit them with a “Dung Collector”. That way after a long journey, you’ll have enough dung, to pawn off for compost in return for that much deserved “Chilled Coke” at the end of the Journey.
Also need to store Bannans and fruity delights for your eliphant friend.
The sight of a mouse(Dont know the logic behind it, but so I’ve heard), would be a nice Turbo Charge and will come in handy when overtaking.
Your elephant needs to be ablt to count back wards when dealing with Traffic Lights with counters on them, and a crash course in “How to confuse Drivers – Traffic Police Guide”.
Traffic signs must be understood carefully, so he doesnt blow his trumpet next to a Hospital.
Most importantly he needs to be able to “Give Way” for more important Elephants on the Road, these could be identified by the speed they travel, mostly on the wrong side, Blowing trumpets, and flashing lights.

Well true enough mate. You dont wanna go to work sweating like a monkey. The solution would be, to introduce more “tropical” clothes. Like T-Shirts and Jeans.
Providing facilities for a shower would be awesome too.
I got a fwd, regarding the High Oil Prices ages ago. It said that we’d treasure a Liter of Petrol, put it in a see through container and place it on the mantle. lol.
It seemed crazy at the time, but you cant say the way things are going.
Mr. Gamini of the Private Bus Assoc, also wants to increase Bus Fairs by 15%. It’s about time we get a Salary increase I tell you. Or I’ll seriously have to consider bussing it out, on a permanent basis.

Ok but on a serious note, I suggest that they arrange better modes of transport. I mean our country at some point was trying to be like sngapore no? The bus services there are good. What to do, our locos don’t take others for examples they try to make a living in politics. That one shot movie was right, the political industry is a family business, them families are continuously getting into the parliament.. majority ain’t it?
Crap scene what to do.. Lets riot, pettition, picket, boycot, etc etc.. since the govt is driving us to the stone age..

Well aren’t you lucky? I’m awaiting the realization of the cost of living being no longer propotianate to my salary by my beloved boss.
I dont want to sound like that stupid Media Spokesman for the UNP, but where are those people protesting for high cost of living. Noramlly when a UNP Govt is in power, you’ll see JVP and abt 50% of SLFP’ers in Lipton Circus. But when SLFP is in power all the “Mahaththaya’s” of the UNP can do is issue statements. Only action I remeber was the “Ali Perahera” but that was to kick out C.B.K.
SL needs a proper mode of Transport, but what are the prospects? I doubt we can afford a Tube? Tram Cars maybe logical, but not practical. See we end up with Buses.
What I can see for improvement is, the InterCity (A/C) Bus sector.

Thats *&^*ed up. And I wanted to travel around SL when i came down in nov/dec. I guess i’ll be taking the bus to kandy/nuwareliya instead of a car…..
